What is (Non)Secular Girl?

(Non)secular Girl is a blog by me, Casey Fleming! I'm writing sermons. I'm attempting to take the traditional form, rinse it clean and re-birth it to suit my own purposes. In doing so I inhabit neither a religious nor secular space, but carve out a place for my life in what I call the “nonsecular world.” The "sermons" compiled here will attempt to instruct, satirize, elegize, provoke, and explore, and while I aim the words from my self-appointed pulpit at specific audiences—Angelina Jolie, ex-boyfriends, and my paternal grandmother, to name a few—I hope the end result is a deeply reflective and personal dialogue with my country, my gender, and my past. I hope (Non)secular Girl will resonate with anyone who has ever fought for a meaningful relationship with her soul. You should expect a sermon each week, on--what else?--Sunday.
